The road between Shoshoni and Casper reopened just before noon after the stretch had closed as law enforcement searched the stretch of road for a double murder suspect.

Law enforcement located a person of interest 16 hours after the search began.

According to WYDOT spokesman Cody Beers, the Wyoming Department of Transportation closed the entire stretch for safety concerns. He said he couldn’t remember another time in the last couple of decades where a large stretch of road was closed for such a reason.

According to the Natrona County Sheriff’s Office, Luke Thomas Young, of Casper, is a person of interest in the murder investigation, and may be considered armed and dangerous. Young also has outstanding warrants.

The office is asking the public to please call 9-1-1 if you see Young. Do not approach. Young was last seen in the area of Ten Mile Road and HWY 20-26 and is believed to be traveling on foot.

Young is described as a 26-year-old white male with short brown/sandy hair, no facial hair, approximately 5’9” tall and weighing 195 lbs.

If you have any information pertaining to this investigation, or the whereabouts of Luke Thomas Young, contact the Natrona County Sheriff’s Office Investigation Division at (307) 235-9282. Anonymous tips can be submitted to Crime Stoppers of Central Wyoming through crime-stoppers.com and may be eligible for a cash reward.

There was a problem reporting this.

And....they had to close down a 100 mile stretch of U.S. Highway? Now, that's an over reaction and a severe over reach. Thanks WyDOT

Ummm excuse you? They don’t know how far that man could have made it my friends who was only 19 years old was killed and your going to sit here and say that it was an over reaction? Two people young people were murdered. If it was your child I think you would have kept your mouth shut.

maybe the law should of shut down the entire state, Mattie?! A 100 mile highway closure was and is silly
